Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish

Sunday 8:45 AM Mass - 816 W. 26th St. Erie, PA 16508

Deacon Tony Alleruzzo
Pastoral Administrator, St. Paul
814.456.6256

To know Deacon Tony is to love him. His deep faith and pastoral gifts, along with his sense of humor, equip him for walking with parishioners in significant moments in life. He has served the parish of St. Paul (partnered with Sacred Heart) for 7 years as their administrator; he has also shared his gifts with Sacred Heart in that time, including being a speaker for Lenten talks and for the intergenerational ministry “Faith Across Ages.”

Among his ministerial duties, Deacon Tony is especially energized by preaching, helping families during times of serious illness and loss of a loved one, bringing Eucharist to those who are homebound, and giving spiritual talks to groups or organizations. Praying the Liturgy of the Hours also keeps him grounded in knowing that all we do is for the glory of God, especially by reaching out to others in their times of need.

You may also recognize Deacon Tony from his lifelong career as a practicing dentist in Erie. His hobbies include golfing, cooking, gathering with friends and family to play cards, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, watching sports particularly college basketball and college (Go WVU!) and pro football, (Go Browns/Steelers!), reading, and visiting the rectory kitchen while Fr. Mark is cooking just to aggravate him!

Deacon Tony says, “Working with Fr. Mark and the rest of the staff is like being with family. As a result of this merger, I hope to get to know the Sacred Heart parishioners better and have the opportunity to minister to them as I did to the parishioners of St. Paul.”
