Knights of Columbus

Thanks to Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary’s Church in New Haven, and some of his parishioners, on March 29th 1882 the Connecticut state legislature officially chartered the Knights of Columbus as a fraternal benefit society. The order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity. Becoming a Knight can transform your life. You have the opportunity to support your parish and your community. Sacred Heart’s Council (#11818) was chartered in 1995 with 35 men from our parish. We continue to support our church with many fellowship activities within and outside of the parish all year long. In the community the Knights sponsor Bingo at the Soldiers and Sailors Home and support the Seminarians in our diocese. In the parish our council hosts a Holy Thursday luncheon for the priests in our diocese and contributes yearly to our food pantry. The Knights host the following opportunities for fellowship for parishioners and their guests: Casino Night in the spring, The Family Mass parish picnic in the summer, and Light Up for Christ during Advent. We extend an open invitation to the men of Sacred Heart Parish to become a member.
